Trip to Pongluek and Bangkhloi

We returned to Pongluek and Bangkhloi this month, focusing not only on helping with their needs now but also building for the long term. We checked on the fish pond project, where the donated fish are growing well with healthy water conditions. The villagers also asked for gardening tools so they can expand their vegetable gardens (where they are already growing spices, pumpkin, and okra). It is small steps like these which help communities become stronger and more sustainable over time.

We also handed out scholarship support for the students – a small encouragement to help them continue their education. We played games, drawing, and coloring, as well as health promotion sessions with the children in the villages. With the nearest hospital more than two hours away and only limited resources available, prevention and education are incredibly important.

Our medical clinic treated 41 patients during this trip – one serious case was a baby girl with hydrocephalus who will need surgery. We will do our best to support and care for her moving forward.

Food, education, and health – little by little, and trip by trip, we hope to continue to work towards a more healthy and sustainable future.

Trip to Bang Saphan

Fifteen Jungle Aid volunteers made the journey down south to the Bang Saphan Schoolchildren’s Shelter Community. We brought eggs, pork, chicken, mung beans, fish, noodles, cooking oil, and various other donations. Our nurses treated 26 patients and distributed birth control. The highlight of the day was when our founder, Emma, presented our young student with a brand new tablet and accessories – she is majoring in maths and sciences and needs this device to complete her assignments. None of this would be possible without all of our donors and sponsors helping to make this happen.

Celebrating the Youth of Pala U Noi

In March and April at Pala U Noi, Jungle Aid is proud to have sponsored the village in the yearly Youth-Focused Anti Drug Campaign sports events. Jungle Aid was honored to sponsor this year’s event by providing sports T-shirts and volleyballs for the competitors. It was incredible to see the energy and spirit on the field, and we are so proud to announce the results of the contest with Team B winning 1st place in the Men’s Football, team A winning second place in the Men’s Football, and the Mixed Volleyball team winning second place! It was amazing to witness such incredible energy and spirit on the field, a huge congratulations to the participants!

Jungle Aid Shop Updates

Do pop by the Jungle Aid store and have a look at what is available to purchase! There are a huge range of items from books, clothing, and homegoods, to brand new furniture. Most are secondhand but some items are brand new. Do pop by to have a look at the goods (or also to donate)! We are open Fridays (except the last Friday of the month), from 10.30 to 11.30am.

Call for donations

The donations and support from our volunteers is what makes all of our work possible! At the moment, we are calling for donations of laptops or tablets to support students across out communities. We support a number of young people who are determined to stay in education but simply do not have access to the technology needed. In truth, we probably need at least 5 to 10 laptops or tablets each year to support our students. A donated device – even an older but working laptop or tablet – can genuinely change a student’s opportunities and ability to succeed. If you have a suitable device you no longer use, or would like to contribute towards purchasing one, please get in touch!
